What is Massage Therapy?

Massage Therapy is the practice of applying pressure, tension, motion, or vibration manually to the soft tissues of the body, including muscles,  connective tissue, tendons, ligaments, joints and lymphatic vessels.  With the goal to achieve a beneficial therapeutic response to make the  soft tissue more pliable, promoting increased blood flow and healing.

What to expect

We begin with a brief patient history to give us an idea of what kind of massage is wanted, treating an injury or releasing general tension or stress.  Your therapist will then step out of the room so that you can undress. You will lay down on the massage table under a sheet. The only clothing you leave on is your underwear and/or loose fitting shorts. When you're ready your therapist will come back into the room to begin. The massage will start by uncovering only the part of your body being massaged at the time. So if the back then just the back, if the leg then just the leg.
Insuring that your modesty is respected at all times. Your therapist relies on your feedback on pressure or if you are comfortable so that adjustments can be made if needed. Any time during the massage do not hesitate to ask any questions. Or just relax and enjoy the massage and even have a little nap(which some people do sometimes).
